Looking for the following:

Type of opportunity:

Sale (Standard), Sale (Owner Financed), Internship / Mentorship, Incubator / Mentored Lease, Business Partnership, Employment, Employment with Transfer. More info: I am currently raising dairy goats and am looking to both expand and add additional livestock types. I am very flexible and willing to do the work to make land usable. However right now I am looking for land near my home in Durham county (27704) that would be an easy commute and either be affordable or allow me to take over by working my way into trust and/or seller financing.

Equipment & infrastructure:

Barn, Fencing, Well / Pond / Other water source, Greenhouse, Livestock facilities, Farmer housing, Farm equipment, Irrigation equipment, Cold storage (cooler/freezer). More info: I would ideally want enough space in pasture that I can put up fences and buildings for goats. If already existing that would be ideal.

Current production on farm:

Aquaculture, Cattle (Dairy/Beef), Fallow, Field crops, Hay or pasture, Herbs, Orchard, Poultry (Broiler/Layer), Sheep/Goat (Dairy/Meat), Vegetable production, Vineyard, Woodlot or forest products. More info: It would depend on the site, but most of theses production types can be adapted to my needs.

Current farming practices:

Biodynamic, Certified organic, Transitioning to organic, Ecological production but not certified, None, the property is not being farmed. More info: I would prefer to not take on fields with a lot of chemicals as they could harm the goats and come out in the milk.

Qualifications and goals:

Previous farming experience:

Number of years experience:

Other qualifications:

Incubator program, Farm business training, Higher education in agriculture or related field. More info: My grandfather was a agricultural extension agent and my father few up on a farm. We have done a lot of research into goat production and have a good management plan in place for their health and expansion. Right now we only have a small hard and are focusing on breeding. We plan to add more soap and other marketable products as we expand.

Production goals:

Hay or pasture, Orchard, Poultry (Broiler/Layer), Sheep/Goat (Dairy/Meat). More info: The plan is to expand into a goat dairy in some form, sheep for wool, ducks for eggs, and potentially some dairy cows. Also would like to establish a nut orchard, but that would take 15-25 years to become significantly productive.

Personal experience and production goals summary:

My partner was a teacher for 11 years and I am a mechanical engineer who is ready to get back to my roots and my passions. We hope to have a varied farm principally based on dairy goats. We will develop programs that would be a form of ecotourism that educates local children and others about farm life, hopefully gets some interested, and provides local products to the community. I would like to get some land around other like-minded people so that we can bond together and create a community and achieve more than any individual farm can do on their own.
