Personal experience and production goals summary:
Vannah Roddy is a first generation young farmer who became interested in regenerative agriculture at the age of 17. Forgoing a traditional college education, at 18 she began traveling to different regions across US and internationally. She emphasized working on farms in a variety of climates to better understand strategies of growing food amidst climate change. After years of intensive hands-on experience and farm management, Vannah settled in Black Mountain where she founded Encompass Farm, cultivating an acre of food + flower production on leased land. She feeds over 80 families a week, year-round, through her innovative Veggie Box Program, vends at farmer's markets and hand-crafts a line of farm products from botanical wreaths to farm-grown seasoning bends.
It's her goal to purchase land in WNC to create a working model of what Restoration Agriculture looks like. This project will host both perennial and annual food production, holistic grazing + educational events in collaboration with Encompass Land Design. ELD helps landowners grow their own food security thru 1-on-1 consulting, masterclasses + more.
