Looking for the following:

Type of opportunity:

Sale (Standard), Sale (Owner Financed), Lease (1 to 5 Years), Lease (5+ Years), Lease with Option to Buy. More info: We hope to find a home and farm land to lease or buy for our small herd of navajo churro sheep and dairy goats.

Equipment & infrastructure:

Barn, Fencing, Livestock facilities, Farmer housing. More info: Ideally, we are seeking a place that has a home, a barn or large shed, some fencing, some pasture. Enough for about 15 goats.

Current production on farm:

Fallow, Hay or pasture, Herbs, Sheep/Goat (Dairy/Meat), Vegetable production, Woodlot or forest products. More info: Current production on farm can vary. Goats are adaptable. A water source is a must though. We'd love to have a small space for vegetables and herbs, for home use.

Current farming practices:

Biodynamic, Certified organic, Transitioning to organic, Ecological production but not certified, None, the property is not being farmed. More info: We are looking for land that will be suitable for our animals to graze on, ideally it hasn't been overrun with chemicals and fertilizers. We operate very simply, and organically.

Qualifications and goals:

Previous farming experience:

Employee, Manager

Number of years experience:

15

Other qualifications:

More info: Together we have over 20 years experience farming, both vegetable production and livestock. Currently we tend our own animals, navajo churro sheep and dairy goats. Andrew has been tending animals his whole life, running a small raw milk dairy in the northwest most recently, and doing land clearing with the goats. We are passionate about what we do, and how we do it. We believe in the sustainability of sheep and goats. We both have worked on other people's vegetable farms and dairies, learning what they have to offer, and learning from their mistakes. We have enjoyed owning our own farm, and being able to practice organic sustainable methods that are in line with our philosophy.

Production goals:

Hay or pasture, Herbs, Sheep/Goat (Dairy/Meat), Woodlot or forest products. More info: Recently we downsized our herd from 150 dairy goats to about 16, which we keep for our family's and neighbor's milk needs. Our sheep herd is down to about 9 because of space constraints. We have enjoyed operating on a smaller more intimate scale. Andrew also runs a small sustainable custom sawmill. Harvesting wood that is already dead or being removed from urban areas.

Personal experience and production goals summary:

We are a small family, with two daughters under three. As a family we spend a lot of time on our farm together, tending our dairy goats and small herd of sheep. We enjoy working on our garden which we use to supply a lot of our food. When my husband isn’t farming he is working with his sawmill doing small batch projects for furniture makers and craftsmen. We are looking for a farm to lease that has graze land available and some housing. Ideally we'd like a 1-3 year lease, as we will be looking for our own property to buy in the meantime. We are open to lease-to-own properties.
