Looking for the following:

Type of opportunity:

Sale (Owner Financed), Lease (1 to 5 Years), Lease (5+ Years), Lease with Option to Buy, Internship / Mentorship, Incubator / Mentored Lease, Business Partnership, Employment, Employment with Transfer. More info: My husband and I are looking for a property to farm Lavender and/or other crops. We would also be open to raising cattle and birds. We are beginner farmers and would most likely need to have a mentor. We would be willing to move pretty much anywhere in NC. We would require housing on the property. We have a small child that would be living with us. We would ideally like to work the farm in exchange for rent, but may also be open to other types of opportunities. We have an end goal to have our own self sustainable farm so that we no longer have to work 9-5 jobs, but instead can work the farm and live off the land. The Lord has put this conviction in our hearts.

Equipment & infrastructure:

Barn, Fencing, Well / Pond / Other water source, Greenhouse, Livestock facilities, Farmer housing, Farm equipment. More info: Must have farmer housing, some tillable land and a water source (well, ponds or stream); all other options checked preferable but can do without

Qualifications and goals:

Number of years experience:

0

Production goals:

Cattle (Dairy/Beef), Field crops, Flowers, Herbs, Poultry (Broiler/Layer), Vegetable production. More info: Open to anything. Would like to be able to have some lavender.

Personal experience and production goals summary:

We do not have any true farming experience. This is just something that we feel the Lord has called us to do and we are looking for someone who could help us accomplish this. That being said, ideally we would need a mentor to teach us how to farm. If we found the right opportunity, we would be willing to invest in formal education in conjunction with some type of mentorship.   We have some experience with basic gardening and have a small vegetable garden at our current home that we start from seed every year and produces well. I have a basic knowledge of raising chickens and horses. We will work hard and are willing to dedicate ourselves fully to learn how to have a successful farm. We want to make this our livelihood.
