Looking for the following:

Type of opportunity:

Sale (Standard), Lease (1 to 5 Years), Lease with Option to Buy. More info: I grow corn, vegetables, mushrooms, squash, beans, and fruit trees. What I'm looking for is a place to do that. I don't grow commercial quantities of these items yet, and may not beyond a small amount. I just love and need to farm and grow plants, especially corn and fruit/nut/endangered trees. My love is for the land and the beauty of farming. Sounds cheesy, but it is true. I'd really prefer some sort of sharecropping situation. The type of farming I do doesn't make money, it just makes food and life and health.

Equipment & infrastructure:

Barn, Irrigation equipment. More info: If some sort of water source exists, I can adapt. I don't need much equipment; I can build a tool shed if need be.

Current production on farm:

Woodlot or forest products. More info: A wood lot or place where sticks can be gathered for charcoal making would make me very happy. So would rich soil, but I don't expect to find that!

Current farming practices:

Biodynamic, Conventional, Certified organic, Transitioning to organic, Ecological production but not certified, None, the property is not being farmed. More info: I know how to heal most any kind of land damage.

Qualifications and goals:

Previous farming experience:

Volunteer, Employee, Manager

Number of years experience:

5

Production goals:

Field crops, Orchard, Vegetable production, Woodlot or forest products.

Personal experience and production goals summary:

My experience with farming and growing things began in 2007 when I landed an internship at an organic, permaculture-oriented nursery in Black Mountain. Since then, I have expanded into growing corn, squash, beans, orchards, mushrooms, green leafy vegetables, onions and cabbages. I also worked with cows for a time and would love a place to keep a dairy cow or two. My goals are not large - enough space to grow enough food to feed my wife and I, maybe some extra for my community in Black Mountain. I'd prefer to buy land or lease in a way that allows for maximum independence in growing. My growing practices are extremely organic. I don't even like to use tractors or chainsaws, though of course I do from time to time.
