Looking for the following:
Type of opportunity:
Lease (1 to 5 Years).
More info: My client is interested in growing industrial hemp through the NC University Extension Program. He has the knowledge and resources, a plant geneticist and soils expert on staff currently. He would like to sign a lease by the end of the year (2018)!! He has secured other land but the geneticist needs to test a new strain for the NC spring-fall season for its fiber quality. Prefer from 2-10 acres.
Equipment & infrastructure:
More info: Don't need anything at the moment but would prefer a processing facility on site. Not necessary but it would be a plus. Simple pole barn would do.
Current production on farm:
Cattle (Dairy/Beef), Fallow, Field crops, Flowers, Hay or pasture, Hemp, Herbs, Sheep/Goat (Dairy/Meat), Vegetable production.
More info: As long as your land has been in AG for the last 2 years (qualifying for AG tax credits), it would be OK.
Current farming practices:
Biodynamic, Conventional, Certified organic, Transitioning to organic, Ecological production but not certified.
More info: Prefer organic but this is not necessarily for consumer grade but rather genetics testing.
Qualifications and goals:
Previous farming experience:
Volunteer, Employee, Manager
Number of years experience:
6
Production goals:
Field crops.
More info: Testing genetic variants of hemp plants for fibrous content.
