Looking for the following:

Type of opportunity:

Sale (Standard), Lease (1 to 5 Years), Lease with Option to Buy, Internship / Mentorship, Incubator / Mentored Lease, Business Partnership, Employment, Employment with Transfer. More info: I am looking for an apprenticeship or mentorship on a farm with livestock, but I am also very interested in growing fruits and vegetables. I am also open to buying land with housing or leasing land to start a pastured poultry operation and market garden. These are my preferences, but any opportunity for agricultural experience is welcome.

Current production on farm:

Cattle (Dairy/Beef), Flowers, Hemp, Herbs, Hogs, Honey bees, Orchard, Poultry (Broiler/Layer), Sheep/Goat (Dairy/Meat), Vegetable production, Vineyard, Woodlot or forest products. More info: Livestock, particularly pastured poultry, would be preferred but I am interested in any production the current farmer finds rewarding.

Current farming practices:

Biodynamic, Conventional, Certified organic, Transitioning to organic, Ecological production but not certified, None, the property is not being farmed. More info: I would prefer biodynamic practices because that is the type of farming I want to do but experience with any type of farming would be valuable.

Academic degree in agriculture or related field. More info: I am studying Agribusiness Management with a concentration in Biological Sciences at NC State and will be graduating in December of 2020. I have also attended various seminars on production, marketing, and budgeting, that were provided by the Extension Offices in North Carolina.

Production goals:

Cattle (Dairy/Beef), Flowers, Hemp, Herbs, Hogs, Honey bees, Orchard, Poultry (Broiler/Layer), Sheep/Goat (Dairy/Meat), Vegetable production, Vineyard, Woodlot or forest products. More info: Pastured poultry is at the top of my production goals list followed by turkeys, hogs, cattle, vegetables, and really anything that fits into the mosaic of a diversified and synergistic farm. I am open to anything that heals the land and the benefits the people buying our products.

Personal experience and production goals summary:

I have no previous farming experience. I am currently a student at NC State studying Agribusiness Management and I am supplementing my agricultural education with seminars provided by the Extension Offices and books, videos, and webinars on how to farm. My wife and I currently live in Garner, NC and are seeking experience for myself and or land to start gaining experience with. We want to have a pastured poultry operation and later integrate turkeys, hogs, cattle, vegetables, and anything that the community wants that will also heal the land. We are not tied down to any area in North Carolina but something within 3 hours or so of Greensboro would be ideal because our families live there.
