Personal experience and production goals summary:
I grew up on a small farmstead in Germany. We had a small orchard, ducks, geese, chickens, milking and meat goats and rabbits. We supplemented our food during summer with our vegetable garden. I WWOOFed on Maui, Hawaii for a year. I mainly worked on an organic banana farm but had a few different experiences in the tropics, which first exposed me to Permaculture. I currently live in North Idaho and work at a farm that produces over 70 different varieties of fruit and vegetables year round. We focus on soil health and regenerative agriculture techniques such as no-tiling practices, zero chemicals, natural pest control through biodiversity and predator habitat. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist by trade. My husband has his degree in ecology and is a Wildland Firefighter. He wishes to focus his future work on fire-ecology to ensure forest health through prescribed burning operations. Our goal is to combine our experience with fresh knowledge to help find a better solution to the health of our people and planet as well as a resourceful future for our children. To be self sustained and offer the community healthy, fresh and local produce, as well as help educate and demonstrate alternative ways of living in abundance and reclaiming our earth.
