Looking for the following:

Type of opportunity:

Sale (Owner Financed), Lease (1 to 5 Years), Lease with Option to Buy, Internship / Mentorship, Business Partnership. More info: I am a chef looking to become a small scale agribusiness/first generation farmer. I plan to convert a small property into a profitable vegetable garden with a focus on high value crop production. As my enterprise grows, I wish to diversify and incorporate principles of regenerative agriculture. I also hope to build an infrastructure to supply value added products. My culinary expertise affords me to explore additional revenue options. I am flexible and willing to learn and adapt my vision to opportunities.

Equipment & infrastructure:

Barn, Fencing, Well / Pond / Other water source, Greenhouse, Processing facilities, Cold storage (cooler/freezer). More info: If an already outfitted production farm is out there that fits our needs then great! I am willing to invest and build on a lease if the terms are favorable enough and it seems economically viable. I plan to start with no dig vegetable beds so minimum I need post harvest storage, harvest area, greenhouse or tunnels, access to water, etc. As the operation grows I may want to invest in more permanent structures.

Current production on farm:

More info: Depending on the types of land, I would like to run 100ft vegetable beds with a focus on leafy greens, baby root vegetables and other highly marketable high value crops. I plan to grow microgreens and potentially gourmet mushrooms if the facilities exist. From there, I would like to plant perinials and perhaps start pasture raising livestock like cows and chickens. Long term I would prefer to own property, but I am open to getting started with what is available to me.

Current farming practices:

Biodynamic, Ecological production but not certified. More info: I want to scale production to be profitable, and incorporate every opportunity to develop the ecology of the soil and grow nutrient dense food.

Qualifications and goals:

Previous farming experience:

Volunteer

Number of years experience:

1

Other qualifications:

More info: I have worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years so I have a good working knowledge on restaurant ordering needs and how networking can produce great sales relationships that benefit farmers, chefs, and customers.

Production goals:

Aquaculture, Cattle (Dairy/Beef), Christmas trees, Fallow, Field crops, Flowers, Hay or pasture, Hemp, Herbs, Hogs, Honey bees, Orchard, Poultry (Broiler/Layer), Sheep/Goat (Dairy/Meat), Vegetable production, Vineyard. More info: I want to grow the farm into a complete ecosystem with multiple revenue streams. The diversity that I can add to build synergistic systems will be a priority.

Personal experience and production goals summary:

I am a new farmer looking to get started on property to transform my life from chef to producer. I have a passion for food and want to experience a different life as I begin to start my family. My culinary experience gives me confidence that high quality produce will find a market. I have some experience working on production farm. I am a quick study and feel strongly that I am prepared to do what is necessary to make a small scale farm work and thrive.
