Looking for the following:

Type of opportunity:

Sale (Standard), Sale (Owner Financed), Internship / Mentorship, Business Partnership, Employment. More info: I am a recent college graduate who studied Agricultural Business and Agricultural Science at Ferrum College, Ferrum Virginia. I have been involved with agricultural since middle school and want to farm full-time, but don’t have land available to me. I am a hard worker and a quick learner! I would mainly like a mentorship/ partnership with a seasoned farmer to gain more experience on how to own, manage, and operate a farm.

Equipment & infrastructure:

Barn, Fencing, Well / Pond / Other water source, Greenhouse, Livestock facilities, Farm equipment, Processing facilities, Irrigation equipment, Cold storage (cooler/freezer). More info: My degree and majority of experience has been with raising crops, but I am open to the animal side of agriculture as well. Unfortunately I don’t come from a farming family so I have no land or equipment to start with. This is why I am looking for a partnership/ mentorship on a functioning farm or with a farmer who has the land and equipment but can’t farm his property.

Current production on farm:

Cattle (Dairy/Beef), Fallow, Field crops, Flowers, Hay or pasture, Hemp, Herbs, Honey bees, Poultry (Broiler/Layer), Sheep/Goat (Dairy/Meat), Vegetable production.

Current farming practices:

More info: I am open to any form of farming, and I push for conservation style farming. I currently work at a Soil & Water Conservation District where I help farmers learn new ways of conservation farming and put those practices in action on their farms. I have seen the positive impact these practices have and would like to help bring them to other farms.

Qualifications and goals:

Previous farming experience:

Volunteer, Employee

Number of years experience:

4

Other qualifications:

Farm business training, Academic degree in agriculture or related field. More info: I have received a double major in Agricultural Sciences (Agribusiness & Agronomy) from Ferrum College, Virginia.

Production goals:

Cattle (Dairy/Beef), Field crops, Flowers, Hay or pasture, Hemp, Herbs, Honey bees, Poultry (Broiler/Layer), Sheep/Goat (Dairy/Meat), Vegetable production. More info: I am open to learning how to manage any style of farm, but my specific studies and experience are in crop production and some small animal production.

Personal experience and production goals summary:

While in school I managed our campuses hydroponics greenhouse that produced lettuce. Through that experience I gain a lot of knowledge on how to operate a greenhouse and how to manage a hydroponics system. I have also worked at several farms where I learned how to operate equipment, manage shipping, lead the packing of produce, and install field irrigation. I have also gained knowledge from farmers as I have worked with the counties Soil and Water District. I have seen that the avaergae age of a farmer is increasing and farmland is being destroyed, and I want to help be apart of farmland preservation and support young farmers getting started.
