Are you ready to try your great ideas on your own plot? But not ready to sink a ton of money into buying land, equipment, digging a well? Want to jump right in without breaking sod? Wouldn’t it be nice to practice and experiment in cooperation with others? We would NOT charge rent for use of the land, and we can work out some sort of work exchange for use of our storage space, equipment, etc. We WOULD love to find community-minded, collaborative, progressive, inclusive and FUN people. All backgrounds welcome. We are all about diversity and inclusion. Possibility of living on site, can discuss.

  • Barn
  • Fencing
  • Well / Pond / Other water source
  • Farm equipment

Equipment & infrastructure - more info

Tiller, spreader, various small equipment. Will likely purchase tractor when current partner/tenant moves on (Summer 2020). Farmer/intern who could help restore and develop production facility from older outbuilding would be highly valuable. Anticipate applying for grant/USDA loan for high tunnel soon, so experience installing same would be excellent, as well.

Current production on farm

  • Flowers
  • Hay or pasture
  • Orchard
  • Vegetable production

Current and past farming practices - more info

Some permaculture projects have been started, but we are not narrowly focused on one methodology, but have a middle of the road, open-minded approach as long as it is kind to the earth and sustainable. We are ALSO about efficiency, innovation, order and beauty. We are not complete farming novices, but are loving the learning-by-doing life and we have networks of farmer-friends who advise us when trial-and-error ends up being more of the latter!

Additional aspects

In a perfect world, we'd love to find farming partners who are interested in Social Care Farming - any marginalized demographic/group - but our particular focus is engaging and working side-by-side with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Happy to explain in more detail, if Social Care Farming is a new concept to readers.
