Farming full-time for homestead
Updated Mar 2, 2026
Desired locations
We'd like a home and land on which we can continue raising our chickens, grow food, and raise livestock animals.
Plan
Shalom,
Currently we have experience with raising chickens for eggs, growing greenhouse veggies/herbsand making many things at home from scratch ie. butter, butter milk, bread, pickles, etc. Our main focus is to become reliant on our own food instead of store bought. We are simple and desire to do things God's way, so a lot of our homesteading will come from using practices and techniques from the Bible. Although we don't have as much experience as others, we are willing to learn and always see room for growth, but we would love to keep it as simple as possible, respecting God and the land, allowing it to yield abundance not just for us but also to help others as much as possible.
God Bless
Desired infrastructure
Equipment and infrastructure details
I mean realistically we are just like most people and most people would prefer to have everything already set up on the land to have there ready for use. So I did mark all of them. But there are many things that we could build ourselves and have installed ourselves such as greenhouse, chicken coops, and fence dividers, but as people who would be just starting off with expanding, I'd say the more help the better.
Preferred type of opportunity
Opportunity details
We are looking for something that is affordable. I know that is so hard to come by in this lifetime and this economy. No one is out here just giving hand outs but we do believe in a big God and that there are still good people out there not always trying to charge people an arm and leg to sustain their families and make a good living. We are a family of 6, hard workers and have been blessed enough to provide for our family in this tough economy on our own. It's not easy to live an honest living but it's absolutely possible. I say all this to say, that we keep our options open, because we are just looking for the best opportunity for our family, which is whatever God has planned for us.
Desired farming practices
Practices details
Our main desire is to make sure that what we put into our mouths or possibly begin to sell to others in the future is free from pesticides and chemicals. We want to respect the land and nature that God has given us by not stressing the land or the animals, allowing them to rest when necessary. By going off of a calendar that is sustainable for us, aligned with the weather and the condition of the land. We care much more about quality over quantity. We desire to work with the soil and not against it, to make sure that our livestock, animals and plants will receive the proper nutrients that will benefit the quality of their production.
Production goals
Goals details
We are still new to this but for the most part we have enjoyed little to no tilling, we prefer to recycling what we can such as water, scraps and crops to maintain a 'cycle of life' kind of system in our farm. We believe that everything that God provided for us on earth is more than enough to run a sustainable and abundant homestead and farm life. We would integrate our livestock amongst the crops to reduce pest issues. We would love to at some point utilize a drip system as well.

Education, training, and employment experience
Experience details
We have no training (on paper). But technically we have experiential training. This isn't a lifestyle that we prepared for, God just answered the desires of our hearts and we learned through trial and error along the way. Our chickens yard and greenhouse were an answered prayer and eventually we are wanting to expand because we know that it's what's best for our family. We get most of our education from the Bible, farmers almanacs, YouTube, resourceful books and friends that own their own land.
