Farming part-time for income
Updated Feb 2, 2026
Seeking
- 11-50 Total acres
- 11-50 Acres of pasture
- 11-50 Acres of hayland
Desired locations
I’m looking for a plot of land that will allow my farm to grow into a prosperous cow calf operation.
Plan
Over my lifetime I was born into a family of cattlemen. Through 4-H I learned the values and principles it takes to run an effective program. The past 5 years I’ve helped get and keep my family’s farm running and growing where I gained valuable experience in doctoring, structural engineering, and overall heard management.
Desired infrastructure
Equipment and infrastructure details
Fencing would be optimal, or the ability to build my own fencing would be greatly appreciated as well. Some sort of structure to store feed or hay. However I am open to any and all opportunities.
Preferred type of opportunity
Opportunity details
Just that, I am looking for an opportunity to transcend farm just one more generation. As huge farming operations take over the vast majority of acreage around me mostly pertaining to row crops. I desire to carry on my family legacy of cattle.
Desired farming practices
Practices details
My plan is to become the last of a dying breed of cattlemen. To start off I’d like to grow my cow calf operations to gain capital, just needing more capacity to do so as farmable land is hard to come by. Eventually I’d like to merge into some farm to table operations as I’ve seen some businesses thriving off doing so. I do have hopes and aspirations. I know that a goal without a plan is just a dream.
Production goals
Goals details
Over the next 5 years I plan on exceeding my 30 head of cattle goal. Through rotational grazing methods and high quality genetics. Extensive research on EPD’s I plan on having a high conception rate and high calving rate. Once a dream I know have the level headed mindset to know that with growth there are set backs. Preparing yourself for those set backs are what separates winners from losers.
Farm experience
Years of experience
6 total years of experience
4 years employed as a worker (non-manager)
2 years as a manager
Education, training, and employment experience
Experience details
Ive been an integral part of my family’s pig and horse farm operation. Keeping animals safe and healthy has always been a number one priority. I was born into a family that experience wasn’t optional it was a necessity that you gained throughout time. High quality fencing, feeding regimens, and health plans, along with set short time and long term goals are a most.
