Looking to expand our pastured meat business, needing pasture to graze cattle, goats, possibly sheep and pigs.

We are a family of four, including two young children, living on our small farm in Pilot Mountain, NC. For the past four years, we’ve been passionate about raising goats, cattle, Idaho pasture pigs, and broilers, working hard to build our pastured meat business. Expanding our farm to a full-time operation has always been our lifelong dream, and we’re now looking for the land and resources to make this vision a reality. Our goal is to sustainably raise high-quality meat while fostering a healthy environment for our family and community. We are committed to growing our farm and living the full-time farming life.

  • Well / Pond / Other water source

Equipment and infrastructure details

Our ideal farm infrastructure includes strong perimeter and cross-fencing for rotational grazing, with high-tensile or woven wire for durability and portable electric fencing for flexibility. Shelters like three-sided run-in sheds provide protection from the elements, ensuring livestock comfort. A reliable water source, such as a well, spring, or rainwater collection system, helps ensure consistent access for animals. While these features enhance efficiency and animal welfare, we are fully prepared to install fencing, build shelters, and put in whatever work is needed to create a functional and sustainable farm.

Opportunity details

We are seeking a farming lease or lease-to-own opportunity, with or without mentorship, to establish and grow our livestock operation. Any acreage over 10 is ideal, allowing us to implement rotational grazing and regenerative practices. We are open to different arrangements and are willing to invest time and effort into infrastructure improvements as needed. Our goal is to build a sustainable, productive farm while fostering a strong relationship with the landowner and the local agricultural community.

  • Regenerative
  • Conventional

Practices details

We prioritize regenerative farming practices, focusing on soil health, biodiversity, and sustainable livestock management. Rotational grazing, composting, and minimizing chemical inputs help improve land and animal well-being. However, we are not opposed to using conventional methods when necessary to ensure animal health and productivity. Our approach balances natural practices with practical solutions, aiming for ethical, efficient, and environmentally responsible farming. By integrating both regenerative and conventional methods, We strive to create a sustainable and productive farm system.

Goals details

Our farm focuses on regenerative practices that improve soil health, biodiversity, and livestock well-being. We use rotational grazing, composting, and minimal tillage to enhance pastures while reducing synthetic inputs. Multi-species grazing optimizes land use and lowers parasite loads naturally. We prioritize ethical, low-stress livestock management with quality, locally sourced feed. Direct-to-consumer sales and farm-to-table partnerships ensure transparency. Our goal is to balance sustainability and profitability, creating a resilient system that supports healthy animals, productive land, and long-term viability.

Experience details

Growing up on a family hobby farm, I gained hands-on experience in animal husbandry, managing livestock and daily care. This foundation led to an 18-year career in veterinary medicine, where I expanded my skills in diagnostics, treatment, and animal health. Though I have no formal agricultural training, the past four years of raising livestock for meat have deepened my knowledge of sustainable farming, nutrition, and ethical management. My combined experience in veterinary medicine, animal husbandry, and livestock production provides a well-rounded perspective on animal care and farm operations.
