My wife and I, with our four girls are looking to start a bison and goat farm, and make our sole living farming.

Our plan is to raise Bison for feeder calves and meat, and also raise boer goats for meat and show purposes. We also want to cut and harvest red clover hay to sale and feed our livestock. We have had 8 years of raising a small herd of boer goats for personal pleasure.

  • Fencing
  • Farm equipment
  • Well / Pond / Other water source

Equipment and infrastructure details

Our equipment needs are minimal, a hay baler and tractor with a barn would be ideal. We are able to run fencing and provide as much as we can to make it work.

Goals details

I plan to start with 10 head of bison, 1 bull and 9 heifers on 20 acres. We plan to breed the bison for growing our herd and selling meat at a competitive price. We plan to also utilize boer goats for meat and show stock purposes. We also plan to sow and harvest red clover hay for the high protein and nutrients it has for ruminants.
