Farming part-time for income

Seeking
- 11-50 Total acres
- 11-50 Acres of cropland or tillable land
Desired locations
Seeking a farm within 60 minutes of Raleigh that wants to transition to the next passionate farmer
Plan
Desired infrastructure
Equipment and infrastructure details
While I'll work with what I can get, it would be great to find an existing farm with all the equipment needed for production.
Preferred type of opportunity
Opportunity details
I'm seeking a farm that is looking to slowly transition out of the farm and pass it along to another. I'd like to have multiple growing seasons to absorb the knowledge grown on that farm prior to my engagement. In the first few years, ideally it would be like a partnership, though with the bulk of the labor/efforts passed over early on and the knowledge sharing being the part that remains.
Desired farming practices
Practices details
After studying Regenerative Agriculture, the concept really appeals to me. I'm an engineer by training and the idea of maximizing the energy from the sun is very appealing, especially combined with the long-term approach of global sustainability. Setting the goal of producing agricultural products profitably, though without maximizing profits at the expense of the land and future generations defines what I want to do as a farmer.
Production goals
Goals details
My goals would be to steal best practices as available to run as efficient a farm as possible. Modern technology enables efficiencies across all the production industries I've worked in so I'm excited about bringing that to farming. I'm a believer in many small experiments to avoid catastrophe while moving forward. As such, my goal would be to run multiple semi-controlled experiments across the fields to determine what works best for that particular area.

I've worked for 20+ years in the pesticide industry. While I've never farmed, I at least understand the issues farmers face from a pest perspective and understand some of the inputs needed.
