Seeking
- 11-50 Total acres
- 0-5 Acres of cropland or tillable land
- 0-5 Acres of pasture
Desired locations
Hello, my name is Chandrea. I am actively seeking farmland in Harnett County, NC, and nearby areas for agricultural use.
Plan
I’m a beginning farmer looking for land in Harnett County, NC, or nearby. I plan to grow vegetables and other crops on a small scale and take good care of the land. I’m open to leasing, lease-to-own, or buying, and I want to be a dependable, responsible steward of the property. My goal is to start gradually, build the farm over time, and treat the land with respect. Planned practices may include seasonal or semi-permanent greenhouse structures, and hydroponic systems implemented with landowner approval and minimal land disturbance.
Desired infrastructure
Equipment and infrastructure details
While not required, it would be great if the property has infrastructure to support a small-scale, diversified farm. Ideally, this could include:
- Greenhouse space or land suitable for building greenhouses
- Fencing for rotational pasture for chickens and sheep
- Livestock facilities such as a small barn or shelter
- Irrigation equipment or access to water like a well or pond
- Farmer housing / homestead for living on-site
- Space for a farm stand and optional cold storage for produce and honey
- Optional small-scale farm equipment for vegetable and livestock production
These features would help support my plans for organic and ecological farming, but I am flexible and willing to adapt or build as needed.
Preferred type of opportunity
Opportunity details
I am primarily looking to buy land, using a loan through the FSA. I am also exploring any available grants or funding programs to help get started. I am open to opportunities such as lease-to-own or mentorship-based leases that could lead to ownership, especially if it helps me start responsibly. My focus is on securing land where I can establish a small-scale, diversified, and sustainable farm that I can care for long-term.
Desired farming practices
Practices details
I plan to use organic and ecological practices on the farm, focusing on healthy soil, natural inputs, and sustainable crop production. While I am not certified organic, I prioritize responsible land stewardship and long-term productivity.
Production goals
Goals details
I plan to farm using organic and ecological practices, focusing on healthy soil, natural inputs, and sustainable crop production. My main production goals are vegetables, pasture raised sheep, pasture raised chicken, and honeybee by-products, with the possibility of adding flowers, gourmet mushrooms, and herbs to support pollinators and diversify crops. I will primarily grow crops in greenhouses and hydroponic systems, while utilizing pasture for livestock. I aim to start gradually, grow responsibly, and maintain the land with care. While I am not certified organic, I am committed to long-term stewardship and building a small-scale, sustainable farming operation that is productive.
