Hi there, we are two young farmers, (25 and 23) looking for land (1-50 acres) to grow vegetables and raise animals.

Me and my partner have been working in some form of agriculture together for 3 years now. We are currently running our own Market garden on about 3 acres of borrowed family land along with 50 laying and 2 berkshire pigs. We use zero chemicals on our plants, soil, and animals and follow regenerative practices with some aspects of biodynamics and permaculture mixed in. All the animals are fed Organic feed along with what they forage. We utilize companion planting and native plants to minimize disease and pest pressure while also encouraging good predatory insects, birds, etc to inhabit the garden ecosystem. The soil is built up through cover cropping, compost, and keeping soil covered.

Equipment and infrastructure details

We have the majority of the equipment we would need to start. We would need some sort of cold storage for produce and It would be great to have processing shed of some sort to clean produce etc. Barns are always a plus :)

Opportunity details

We are looking for land and housing.

  • Biodynamic

Practices details

We plan on only using natural mechanisms to produce food. Ideally we would be somewhere between biodynamic and permaculture.

  • Cattle (Dairy / Beef)
  • Field crops
  • Flowers / Herbs
  • Hogs
  • Orchard / Vineyard
  • Poultry (Broiler / Layer)
  • Sheep/Goat (Dairy / Meat)

Goals details

We would like to use 1-5 acres for vegetable production along with laying hens and possibly more animals in the future. We can be pretty flexible with what we produce on the amount of land we're provided with but would need at least 2 acres. We would plan on growing a variety of vegetables as well as eggs to sell to restaurants, at farmers markets and CSA customers. Our goal would be to have half of our income come from the farm and the rest from another job the first year.
