I am seeking farm land for lease to grow and manage a cut flower farm and small farmers market.

I am growing on 1/2 of an acre, cut flowers, over the past 4 years, that I consider my learning years. I have completed farming work shops to learn how to practice farming as a cut flower farmer. In addition to growing fresh cut flowers, I raise egg laying chickens and sell fresh farm eggs. We raise chickens, providing cage free, and free range natural environment for our 30 egg laying hens. Future plans are to expand our growing area and sell fresh cut flowers to florist, and other floral businesses. In addition, I hope to offer a farmers market selling a variety of farm products, flowers, farm fresh eggs, fresh vegetables, live plants, and artisan baked goods.

Opportunity details

Seeking 7-10 acres to lease for fresh cut flower farm and farm stand/market.

  • Regenerative

Practices details

I practice regenerative farming practices by using natural forms of pest control, using beneficial insects, and companion planting such as planting vegetables with flowers, using compost made from our land, produce waste, chicken manure, and debris from cuttings, weeds, wood chips, and soil. Our soil is amended with compost and wood chips. We use organic fertilizer and compost tea. I plant ground cover such as clover, and sunflowers to prevent bare soil and regenerate the land. It is very important to preserve our land and practice organic farming. We need to help bees and other beneficial pollinators to thrive and be conscious of carbon emissions.

Goals details

Desired agricultural goals are to expand our fresh cut flower farm to increase production by obtaining more acreage to grow on, add field crops such as corn, beans, and peanuts with organic farming practices. We plan to add honey bees, and additional live stock depending on amount of acreage that we are able to obtain. We hope to expand our current farm stand for a farmers market concept.
