Opportunity details

Ideally I locate a farm property where I can reside on the property and manage the herd and the daily chores.  By farm property I mean a mix of woods, thickets and pastures. My cattle herd breeds are excellent foragers and reclaim overgrown farms and properties very efficiently, while amending the soil and taking out invasive species as they go-A real natural win-win for the land and the cattle. The cattle are very cold weather hardy and would do fine with natural windbreaks, structural windbreaks, or a barn.  I started this journey in 2012 when my late father was diagnosed with cancer.  My grass fed beef is regularly consumed by triathlon athletes, runners, and special heart diet customers.

Practices details

I run a herd of pure Scottish Highland cattle.  The herd is 65% cows and heifers, the remaining balance are HighPark pattern cattle cows n heifers. HighPark is not a cattle breed, but rather a color pattern achieved when a Highland is crossed with a British White Park cattle. Besides being the cutest calves and cattle in the world (slight bias expressed) I was after a faster rate of gain and improved muscling in their off-spring for the purposes of a sustainable supply of grass fed beef.  I've been in this cattle cross breeding for nearly the last seven (7) years of my fourteen (14) year cattle operation in Michigan.  I am relocating to Asheville, NC for my work, wanna bring the herd too.
