Seeking
- 0-5 Total acres
- 0-5 Acres of cropland or tillable land
- 0-5 Acres of pasture
Desired locations
Beginning farmer seeking 1–3 acres near Monroe/Wingate for laying hens and a small vegetable operation.
Plan
I am a beginning farmer looking to start a small part-time operation on 1–3 acres. My initial plan is to raise 15–20 laying hens and grow a small variety of vegetables for local direct sales. I am interested in learning sustainable farming practices, starting on a manageable scale, and expanding gradually as I gain experience and build a customer base. I am looking for land with access to water and permission to use temporary fencing and a small mobile chicken coop.
Desired infrastructure
Equipment and infrastructure details
I am looking for land with reliable water access, fencing or permission to install temporary fencing, and enough space for a small mobile chicken coop and vegetable production. A barn or small storage area would be helpful for feed, tools, and supplies. Irrigation access is important for the vegetable plot. Existing livestock facilities would be a plus, but I am also willing to install simple temporary infrastructure as needed.
Preferred type of opportunity
Desired farming practices

I plan to use small-scale ecological farming practices focused on soil health, responsible animal care, composting, crop rotation, and minimizing chemical inputs. I would like to use movable fencing and a mobile chicken coop when possible, while gradually improving the land as I gain experience.
Production goals
Goals details
I am a beginning farmer looking to start a small, part-time operation focused on laying hens and vegetable production. I plan to begin on 1–3 acres with approximately 15–20 laying hens and a small vegetable plot. My goal is to use practical ecological methods such as crop rotation, composting, responsible animal care, and minimizing unnecessary chemical inputs. I would like to use movable fencing and, if possible, a mobile chicken coop. I plan to sell eggs and fresh vegetables directly to local customers, learn through hands-on experience, and gradually expand the farm as I build skills, demand, and financial stability.
