Seeking
- 0-5 Total acres
Desired locations
Looking for land in NC to expand my small egg-laying farm focused on pasture-raised hens and local fresh eggs.
Plan
Hello, my name is Tasharea Reid, a first-generation farmer building my farm business, Earth’s Fresh Finds. I’m seeking about one acre of land in or near Charlotte, Mecklenburg, or Cabarrus County to lease for my egg-laying chicken operation. I’m open to creative lease options, including exchanging farm-fresh eggs as part of the rent. My hens will also help keep the land naturally fertilized. I’ll maintain and care for the property while promoting sustainable local agriculture.
Desired infrastructure
Equipment and infrastructure details
My main needs include secure fencing, hen housing, and access to clean water. Cold storage for eggs is important to maintain quality and meet food safety standards. I use simple, efficient equipment suitable for small-scale poultry operations and plan to expand responsibly as production grows.
Preferred type of opportunity
Opportunity details
I’m looking for a small parcel of land, around one acre, to lease for my egg-laying operation. Ideally, I’d like a long-term partnership with a landowner who values sustainable land use. I’m open to a standard lease or a creative agreement where part of the rent can be traded for farm-fresh eggs. My goal is to find land that allows me to responsibly raise hens, maintain soil health, and build a mutually beneficial relationship that supports both my farm’s growth and the landowner’s goals.
Desired farming practices
Practices details
My farming practices are based on natural and sustainable care for the hens. I use pasture-raised methods, clean housing, and natural feed without hormones or harsh chemicals. My goal is to maintain healthy soil, happy hens, and high-quality eggs. I follow organic-style practices even though I’m not yet certified, with plans to transition toward official organic certification in the future.
Production goals
Goals details
My farming practices focus on humane, small-scale, and sustainable egg production. I raise pasture-raised hens that provide fresh, local eggs while naturally fertilizing the land. My goal is to build a self-sustaining farm that supports the community and the environment. I plan to start with around 200 hens and grow gradually, using natural feed and clean, ethical methods to keep the land healthy and productive for years to come.
