Seeking land to steward as a community land trust for nonprofit cooperative organization
Plan
Organization mission includes education, advocacy, and mutual aid; so in addition to cultivating food , medicines etc., we aim to be a community-centered diversified enterprise offering wellbeing-oriented goods and services.
We are in the process of nonprofit incorporation status and hope to steward land outside of the for-profit model.
Desired infrastructure
Equipment and infrastructure details
We are open to building infrastructure but would prioritize existing facilities in place. Infrastructure for horses, food processing + storage, greenhouse, hoophouses, existing community buildings/housing is ideal.
Preferred type of opportunity
Opportunity details
We are seeking a personal relationship transfer in the form of community land trust. We are not interested in land as a financialized asset, rather as the foundation on which our nonprofit cooperative community can thrive. We are hoping that our mission speaks to a land owner who wishes to support our endeavors in making the world a better place for all through access to organic food, fiber, and forest for our immediate community. We believe that a regenerative agricultural system, both economically and ecologically, is the basis for world peace. We understand that financial transactions are sometimes the only option, and are open to discussing them.
Desired farming practices
Practices details
We aim to practice a regenerative relationship with all of the web of life using no-till, permaculture, agriculture, and diversified-integrated plant and animal relationships
Production goals
Goals details
Desired farming practices include seed starting and seed saving, plant + tree nursery, diversification for resilience (fruits, veggies, grains, nuts, berries, fiber) using no-till and permaculture principles
Horse-powered and animal-integrated forest management (silvopastures), equine recreational activities
Production plans are primarily for community self-sufficiency, value-added products + services (such as farm events), and mutual aid (not seeking to maximize profit through production, rather find a sustainable relationship with people + land). Will be fundraising and potentially grant-funded and/or fiscally sponsored.
