Farming part-time for income

Seeking
- 51-100 Total acres
- 51-100 Acres of pasture
Desired locations
Local South Poll cattle farmer seeking additional pasture to grow my herd while improving soil and forage.
Plan
I own and operate a 12.37-acre farm in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, where I am building a grass-based South Poll cattle operation focused on rotational grazing, soil health, forage improvement, and responsible land stewardship.
I currently manage a small South Poll herd using rotational grazing and virtual fencing. My approach is centered on improving the land over time through appropriate stocking, planned recovery periods, better forage diversity, living roots, and the natural fertility provided by grazing livestock. I am actively working to improve pasture productivity and soil health while developing a sustainable cattle operation that can grow over the long term.
Desired infrastructure
Equipment and infrastructure details
My preferred setup is simple, efficient, and focused on rotational grazing with minimal impact to the land. I currently use Nofence virtual fencing to manage cattle movement and create flexible grazing areas without extensive permanent cross-fencing. Ideal infrastructure includes secure perimeter fencing, reliable access to clean water, and reasonable vehicle or trailer access for livestock management. I prefer portable and flexible equipment whenever possible, including movable water systems and temporary fencing where needed. My goal is to work with the existing farm infrastructure rather than require significant development.
Preferred type of opportunity
Opportunity details
I am looking for additional grazing land near Pilot Mountain where I can gradually expand my South Poll herd and continue building a regenerative, grass-based cattle operation. I am most interested in developing a long-term relationship with a landowner who cares about their property and would like to see it actively and responsibly managed. I am open to both established pasture and land with potential for improvement through thoughtful rotational grazing and stewardship. My goal is to treat leased land as an extension of my own farm and build a relationship that benefits both the landowner and the land for years to come.
Desired farming practices
Practices details
My desired farming practices center on regenerative agriculture, rotational grazing, and long-term soil health. I raise South Poll cattle in a grass-based system and use planned livestock movement followed by adequate recovery periods rather than continuously grazing the same pasture. My goal is to keep living roots and diverse forage growing as much as possible, improve water infiltration and soil organic matter, recycle nutrients through livestock, and build healthier, more productive pastures over time. I believe cattle should be managed as a tool for improving the land, with stocking rates and grazing decisions based on the condition of the pasture.
Production goals
Goals details
My goal is to build a profitable, regenerative South Poll cattle operation centered on rotational grazing, soil health, and responsible land stewardship. I use planned livestock movement and adequate pasture recovery to improve forage productivity, soil fertility, water infiltration, and long-term carrying capacity. I plan to expand my herd gradually as the land can support it and seek additional pasture through long-term leases. My production goals include raising healthy, grass-based cattle, developing a high-quality breeding herd, and eventually marketing beef and livestock directly to customers. Above all, I want every property I manage to become healthier and more productive over time.

Absolutely. For FarmLink, I’d make this sound credible and experienced while being transparent that much of your regenerative-agriculture education has been self-directed and hands-on, rather than through a formal agricultural degree.
Agricultural Education, Training & Experience
Agriculture has been part of my life and family history from an early age. My grandfather was a large conventional farmer, which gave me an early connection to farming and an appreciation for the work, responsibility, and stewardship involved in agriculture.
As I developed my own farming operation, my interests increasingly moved toward regenerative agriculture, soil health, rotational grazing, and livestock management
