Though I didn't grow up in agriculture, I found my passion for it in high school ag classes and FFA where I started competing and raising turkeys in the summers to show. From there I got my degree in Animal Science with a concentration in livestock industry. During my time at NC State, I took beef cattle management, swine management, and volunteered helping with swine nutrition studies on-farm. I also worked on a diverse farm that had everything from an orchard and vegetable production, to sheep, cattle, and various avian species. Following college, my first job was at an NC State Research Station helping in the areas of swine, field crop production, horticulture, and overall farm maintenance and care. I then transferred to NC State's Swine Educational Unit where I managed the nursery and finishing barns. I now currently work as the recruiter for NC State's Agricultural Institute, as well as advise for the AGI Club and NC Collegiate Cattlemens. My goals moving forward, God willing, are to own and operate a multi-faceted farm wherever that may start. Ultimately having a variety of livestock and horticultural production is what I'd like to get to, along with agritourism. My passion for agriculture will never end at producing, I want to really get to know the community I produce for and have a farm open for learning.
