Seeking
- 51-100 Total acres
- 51-100 Acres of pasture
- 11-50 Acres of hayland
Desired locations
I'm NC born and raised; I grew up raising show livestock with my father, who taught me all I know about animal husbandry
Plan
I grew up on farms and worked with my father through my childhood and teenage years raising show livestock, while he had animal husbandry jobs including running a 2,000-acre farm with around 670 head of market cattle. I will be a new farmer doing it on my own. I plan to have cow-calf operations and finish out the market steers then process and ship the meat directly to consumers.
Desired infrastructure
Equipment and infrastructure details
A tractor and bush hog, Farmer housing would be a plus, livestock barn, hay barn, fencing and adequate water sources.
Preferred type of opportunity
Opportunity details
My goal is to eventually own the farm and raise my family on it. So, I would prefer Sale or Owner financing. But I'm not opposed to leasing or Leasing with the option to buy either.
Desired farming practices
Production goals
Goals details
I want to start my herd out with around 50 cow-calf pairs. I plan on having them on rotational grazing to cut down on the acreage needs per head as well as giving the grass adequate time for rest and regeneration. During this stage I will raise the calves up to weaning age then finish them out to a desired market weight where I will then process and distribute the meat directly to consumers. This will hopefully curb some of the volatility of the market and make my operation more consistently profitable.

Experience details
Ever since I was old enough to walk, I've been involved with raising show livestock through 4-H as well as FFA. I spent the better part of my life working the farm with cattle, hog operations and even market sheep with my family. Formal education includes animal science, horticulture, livestock judging all provided throughout four years in the FFA program.
