Young family seeking 5–10+ acres near Wilmington for multigenerational living and a small family homestead/farm.

We're a young family hoping to establish a small homestead near Wilmington for multigenerational living. We envision raising horses, chickens, goats & possibly cattle, along with growing our own produce.

We're flexible on timing and would consider a seller leaseback. We'd also be open to discussing deed restrictions that protect the land from large-scale development while allowing family homes and agricultural use.

Our dream is to raise our babies on the same land they might one day raise theirs. As a hardworking family hoping to build a life centered around raising our children, that dream feels harder to reach these days. We're praying to find a piece of land we can afford, love, & cherish.

  • Barn
  • Fencing
  • Livestock facilities
  • Well / Pond / Other water source

Equipment and infrastructure details

We're open to both undeveloped land and established farmland. Existing barns, fencing, pastures, and livestock facilities would be wonderful, but none are required. We're happy to make improvements over time as we establish our family homestead. Our main priorities are legal road access, a feasible water and septic solution, and the ability to eventually build 2–3 homes for multigenerational living. We'd love a mix of cleared pasture and wooded acreage, but we're flexible. Above all, we're looking for a property with the potential to become our family's forever home.

  • Sale (Cash or Mortgage)
  • Sale (Owner Financed)
  • Lease w/Option to Buy

Opportunity details

We're hoping to purchase an affordable piece of land to establish a small, multigenerational family homestead. We're open to traditional financing, owner financing, or lease-to-own arrangements. We can be flexible with closing dates and would consider a seller leaseback. We're also open to purchasing a portion of a larger farm and discussing restrictions against large-scale development while allowing family homes. Our dream is to raise our babies on land they might one day raise theirs on. We know how meaningful family land can be, and we're praying to find a place we can love, care for, and preserve for generations.

Practices details

Our hope is to create a small, sustainable family homestead where we can raise animals, grow our own produce, and care for the land in a way that preserves its natural beauty and agricultural character. We'd love to maintain healthy pastures for horses, goats, and potentially cattle, along with a vegetable garden and chickens. We hope to use natural, environmentally conscious practices whenever possible and teach our children the importance of caring for the land, growing food, and living simply. Above all, we want to leave the property better than we found it for future generations.

  • Cattle (Dairy / Beef)
  • Hay or pasture
  • Honey bees
  • Poultry (Broiler / Layer)
  • Sheep/Goat (Dairy / Meat)
  • Vegetables

Goals details

Our dream is to establish a small family homestead where we can grow our own food, raise animals, and preserve the land for generations. We envision vegetable gardens, fruit trees, herbs, flowers, and honey bees for pollination and honey. We'd love to raise chickens for fresh eggs, keep horses, and eventually have goats and possibly a few cows. We hope to maintain healthy pastures, use sustainable farming practices, and teach our children the value of hard work, self-sufficiency, and caring for the land. Above all, we want to create a place where our children can grow up connected to nature and one day raise their own families on the same land.

Experience details

While we don't have formal agricultural education or professional farming experience, we're eager to learn and establish a small family homestead. Our goal is to raise livestock, including chickens, goats, horses, and potentially cattle, while growing produce for our family's use. We hope to learn through hands-on experience, local agricultural resources, and guidance from experienced farmers. We're committed to being responsible stewards of the land and preserving its agricultural character for future generations.
