Passionate about organic farming and want to expand!
Plan
I have been engaged in small-scale farming since 2017, beginning with a local county gardening program. I was inspired by the experience and soon transitioned to an incubator farm, where I made extensive use of greenhouses to grow a variety of produce.
Over the years, I have found great fulfillment in this work—supplying fresh, healthy food to local churches, community groups, and families, including international crops to serve immigrant communities with familiar, culturally relevant foods. I also sell my produce at local farmers markets, connecting directly with customers who value fresh, organic, and locally grown food.
I am passionate about organic farming and now aim to expand.

Desired farming practices
Practices details
My desired farming practices focus on sustainability, soil health, and organic integrity. I believe that healthy soil is the foundation for healthy food, so I rely on natural methods of cultivation—including composting, crop rotation, and organic pest management—to build long-term fertility and resilience.
I practice no synthetic chemicals or pesticides, choosing instead to use natural fertilizers, cover crops, and beneficial insects to maintain balance in the ecosystem. I also prioritize water conservation through drip irrigation and mulching, and I’m continuously learning about climate-smart and regenerative techniques to reduce waste and promote biodiversity.
Production goals
Goals details
Harvest Roots Farm practices sustainable, organic farming focused on soil health and biodiversity. We use composting, crop rotation, natural pest control, and water-saving methods. Our production includes organic vegetables, African traditional greens, and specialty crops like ginger and garlic. We sell through farmers markets, CSA subscriptions, and local food programs. Our goal is to expand into commercial farming, own 3–10 hectares of land, and specialize in high-value organic crops while supporting healthy, local food systems.

Experience details
I have been farming for over 17 years, a skill and passion I learned from my parents, who were both full-time farmers. When I transitioned to the U.S., my goal was to carry on their legacy and continue building on the foundation they started.
I am now farming at Lomax Research Farm, where I have gained extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in organic farming—learning and following proper procedures to grow healthy, sustainable crops. Farming is not just my work; it’s my lifelong passion and heritage.
