Plan
Sunrising Farms is a family farm dedicated to providing fresh, healthy food for our community. Located in Franklinville, NC, we primarily raise pork, chicken, and turkey, which we sell at a local farmers market.
At Sunrising Farms, we produce high-quality meat and eggs, humanely and sustainably raised with the environment and our customers in mind. Our animals are pasture-raised, fed non-GMO feed, and treated with care. They have access to open spaces and locally sourced food.
This year, we plan to expand our livestock operation, develop our garden, and host educational and social events on the farm. Acquiring more land will help us achieve our goals and continue to grow.

Experience details
My farm training has largely been a combination of volunteer work, paid positions, and independent study.
From 2016 to 2018, I gained considerable farm experience through volunteering and mentorship on several farms and homesteads, where I learned the basics of gardening and animal husbandry.
In 2017, I started part-time work at a poultry processing plant, learning the procedures for slaughtering, processing, packaging, and storing poultry products.
In 2018, I began my own farming operation, and much of my subsequent training and learning was through trial and error, self-teaching through reading, watching videos, and attending agricultural events.
