Hey yall, my name is Veronica Cooley, and I’m looking for 5 acres to feed my family and eventually feed others.

Good Afternoon, my fiancé and I are looking to purchase/rent around 5 acres to homestead on and gradually work toward a large scale farming operation. I grew up on a farm, and over the last several years I have slowly begun to incorporate homesteading practices into my household: growing our own potatoes in sacks, baking our own bread, growing veggies where we can, butchering our own chickens, buying as locally as we can, canning vegetables while they’re in season. I want to get back to the farm. I’ve been self-educating over the last three years, and  I am highly interested in using regenerative grazing and farming practices on my land.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Equipment and infrastructure details

I know that what I’m asking for might be a diamond in the rough, but you don’t know if you don’t ask. I’d like 5 acres with a house on it. I can do everything else. The house doesn’t even need to be in terrific shape, we're not afraid of some sweat equity.

Opportunity details

I want to own a farm. My fiance works at Brevard College, so we would ideally be within 30/45 minutes of Brevard. We are open to smaller parcels of land. I’m also open to other opportunities. I would love to learn from someone and would be open to renting a farm, working on it, and learning the land from someone with knowledge and experience.

Practices details

Working with nature seems to be one of the best ways to farm, and I plan to utilize cattle to regenerative my graze and restore the land. I will rotationally graze them to feed the soil microbiome and then allow the land to recover. I plan on focusing on feeding the soil micro biome to ensure it’s healthy. That way, the soil can hold more water, crops can grow with more nutrients, and I can work with natures cycles.

Goals details

I want to provide a healthy place for animals to grow, nurture the land, where they in turn can nurture people.

Rotationally grazed livestock will aerate the soil and leave manure to nurture the soil. The livestock won't be allowed to overgraze. They will be rotated to other
