We are located in SE Rutherford County, NC, just off of HWY 74. We have a small barn and two pastures. The property has two creeks and a well-in pasture with a livestock water station. About 70 percent of the land is covered by a wide variety of hardwoods and pine trees. Our home is also located on the farm.
Property features
Feature details
As modern-day homestead farmers, we continually are assessing and adapting to our current needs. We have invested in the future plans by forest mulching, maintenance of land and infrastructure, and equipment. We continue to focus on our plan and make progress toward being operational by the end of 2025.
Current production on farm
Production details
For the past five years, we have focused our time, energy, and resources on regenerative practices. We have finished a five-year plan that ramp up production in the last quarter of 2025. Charles will retire at that time and become a full-time farm manager. In our 10-year plan, this position will be replaced by an FTE. Eventually, our farm will support a therapeutic horticulture focus and use a co-op approach to profit-sharing and labor needs. We hope to create a community that fosters support and opportunities for individuals with ID/DD (Intellectual/Developmental Disability)
Current & past farming practices
Practice details
We have owned this property for 5 years and are bringing it back to life through regenerative practices. Situated in the isothermal belt we are focusing on becoming familiar with the seasons and seasonal change. We are certified beekeepers and my wife has completed a certification in Therapeutic Horticulture which she will use here on the farm. My background is in IT and publishing operations.

Opportunity details
Therapeutic Horticulture (TH) uses plants and nature-based activities to promote health and wellness. Using our 50-acre farm we plan to launch operations to foster TH activities during the last quarter of 2025. We are building a homestead environment and plan to provide health awareness, social, and educational opportunities for participants on the farm. We will use all aspects of agriculture to help promote and build a supportive community. We plan to launch Purple Hart Lavender, a not-for-profit, to provide an opportunity for therapeutic practices. The farm will host a community garden that will offer opportunities as well.
