It is about 10 acres that is well secluded (you see no roads from the farm) and yet we are close to Charlotte, Hickory, Newton and so forth.

It has a solid brick built house with two bedrooms and two bathrooms - it is a very comfortable house. The barn is three bayed + has a seperate section for an RV storage. The workshop is very large and is honestly a luxury - it even has a professionally built spray painting booth with the proper lights and fans (for cars) that the previous owner used as a sideline business.

The coldroom is huge and is run on a CoolBot, the washroom is a 40ft container that we put windows into + stainless steel sinks,  The planting room is the size of a large garage, has a germination chamber + a flood tray for microgreens.

We planted a variety of fruit trees to see which would work and they are getting well established. We have a very solid chicken coop that can house about 150 chickens which we free range every day - the eggs are divine.

Feature details

The property includes two double skinned greenhouses, 4 hoophouses, agricultural well (about 45 gpm) barn, workshop, washroom, coldroom, seeding room, newer RV for on site employees plus all equipment required to operate the farm i.e. multiple trailers, BCS walk behind tractor & associated implements, Jang seeder, paperpot planter, Japanese mini-truck, tools and so forth.

I built a large enclosure for my dogs but it can easily be used for livestock.

All equipment needed to operate the farm stays with the farm - we would like to leave with a suitcase and nothing else.

Production details

We are in production year round and sell exclusively at farmers markets. In total we grow in excess of 50 varieties of vegetables, about 6-12 varieties of mushroom (depending on season) and a variety of microgreens.

We have around 120 laying hens & grow some strawberries (4*100') beds. We also have a lot of bee-keeping equipment but that has not been a success for us (time constraints).

Practice details

All plants are started from quality seeds (mostly Johnny's Seeds) on the farm using soil-blocks, Winstrip trays or Paperpot. We have a high quality Germination chamber so our germination rates are very good.

All of our vegetables are grown on raised beds that we get soil tested every year and amend accordingly (Logan Labs). We have about 1.5 acres in raised beds. Most beds are covered by both overhead sprinklers and drip tape.

We use a lot of tarps, ground cover, fertilizer injectors, cover crops, beneficial insects + home made compost - always trying something new.

Opportunity details

We bought this 10 acre property 8 years ago and turned it into a well equipped and profitable farm. It is a full year operation (thank you North Carolina zone 7b weather) that grows & sells a large variety of vegetables, mushrooms, free range eggs and microgreens.

We exclusively sell at two Charlotte Farmers Markets where we are well established (50 minute drive from the farm).

We are looking to sell, lease or possibly hand over management of the farm. My wife & I are sailors and want to disappear over the horizon before we get too old.

This is not a hobby farm, it is a serious operation that requires somebody with some experience or with a ton of energy & a good attitude.

Additional information about this property

We intend to leave but can help transitioning the farm into new ownership, even on an annual basis for a few years (i.e. help early spring or early fall when all the action happens).
