We have a 146 acre plot, on which some is flood plain for the South River. We guess that 46 acres is riparian buffer, NC bayou, for the South River, and should be considered unsuitable for farming.   Approximately 100 acres is ready to be farmed, having been timbered 2 or 3 years ago. There will be some stumps for the lessee to remove, and this is the reason for the low lease rate of 50/acre-year, rather than the suggested rate of 84/acre-year.    There is a direct access point and frontage on NC HW 210, and a second access point on a different road.

Feature details

This is a 146 acre plot for which approximately 100 yards of farmable. The remainder is NC cypress bayou (Riparian Buffer) on the South River, and thus must not be farmed.   Approximately 100 acres was clear cut and timbered 2 or 3 years ago.  Some stacks of debris remain. Some stumps remain.  There is a direct access point and frontage on NC HW 210, and a second access point on a different road.

Opportunity details

Nancy Korman is the owner.  I am her son, Ben Korman.  I am attempting to help her manage several pieces of nearby property, but this specific swathe of land is best suited for leasing to a local farmer.   Approximately 100 acres of this 146 acre parcel is tillable.  Both long term and short term leases would be considered.  There is currently no power or water on the property, but these services could be negotiated, and power lines exist already on NC 210.

Additional information about this property

Due to the acreage's proximity to the South River, I would suggest that minimal farm chemicals would be ideal.
