2nd generation garlic farmer seeking farmland to plant garlic and family roots!

I have hands-on farming experience through my family’s garlic farm and am seeking land to establish my own small-scale garlic and specialty-crop operation. My plan is to use sustainable, soil-focused growing practices, build production gradually, and actively maintain and improve the agricultural value of the land. I am interested in working with a retiring or transitioning farmer and am open to purchase, owner financing, lease-to-own, or other long-term farm-transfer arrangements.

  • Farmer housing
  • Barn
  • Farm equipment
  • Well / Pond / Other water source

Equipment and infrastructure details

A barn, farmer housing, farm equipment, and an established water source would be welcome but are not all required. I am open to land without housing or existing equipment and to developing infrastructure over time. Priorities are suitable growing land, access to a reliable water source, and space to establish garlic curing and storage facilities.

  • Sale (Cash or Mortgage)
  • Sale (Owner Financed)
  • Lease w/Option to Buy
  • Lease w/Mentoring

Opportunity details

I am seeking a long-term opportunity to establish my own garlic farm, with a preference for eventual ownership. I am open to a financed purchase, owner financing, or a lease with an option to buy. I would welcome a relationship with a retiring or transitioning farmer who wants the land to remain in agricultural use, with terms that support a practical and financially sustainable transition.

Practices details

I plan to grow garlic using organic farming practices, compost, and crop rotation to build healthy soil and maintain long-term productivity. These practices draw on my experience at my family’s garlic farm, Fly by Night Farms. My goal is to steward the land responsibly while producing high-quality garlic for local and direct-sale markets.

  • Field crops

Goals details

I plan to establish a garlic farm on at least 10 acres, with three acres planted in the first season if suitable pasture can be prepared in time. Drawing on my experience at Fly by Night Farms, I will use organic growing practices, compost, and crop rotation to support soil health. I intend to sell through farmers markets, direct customer sales, restaurants, and online orders. My goal is a financially sustainable farm that preserves the land’s agricultural use, with room for crop rotation and future growth.

Experience details

Hands-on experience working in my family’s commercial garlic farming operation. My responsibilities included soil preparation, irrigation, planting and crop care, harvesting and curing, sales, bookkeeping, and participation in production and management decisions. This experience gave me practical knowledge of both the agricultural and business sides of operating a garlic farm. I am now seeking land to establish my own garlic and specialty-crop operation.
